Οι πηγές της Πέσσας (από το Ομηρικό «πέσσω, καταπέσσω»), που κατά την παράδοση ήταν γνωστές στη Σαπφώ, όπως σημειώνει ο Μάκης Αξιώτης, στο βιβλίο του «Πυρραίων Χώρα»,και ο καταρράκτης πηγάζει από τη Μικρή Λίμνη της Αγιάσου και τον Όλυμπο των Βασιλικών. Από εκεί ο πρωτοπόρος σκηνοθέτης Ορέστης Λάσκος πήρε το 1931 τις πρώτες γυμνές εικόνες στην ιστορία του ελληνικού κινηματογράφου στην ευαίσθητη βουβή ταινία του «Δάφνις και Χλόη». Στα νερά του μικρού καταρράκτη, κατά το μύθο, λουζόταν το ζευγάρι των δύο νέων. Φτάνετε εκεί μέσω ενός μικρού χωματόδρομου, στα δεξιά του δρόμου που φεύγει από Αχλαδερή και οδηγεί προς το δρόμο Αγιάσου – Πολιχνίτου.
